PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh Affirms Commitment to State’s Holistic Development
2 min readShimla, June 8: Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh has reiterated his dedication to the comprehensive development of the state, emphasizing that his focus has always been on advancing developmental projects. Singh, who views politics as a path of service inherited from his father, the late six-time Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, made these remarks while addressing an assembly of office bearers and workers from the Shimla Rural Block Congress Committee at the Pradesh Congress Headquarters, Rajiv Bhawan.
As the chief guest at the gathering, Singh acknowledged the party leadership’s directive for him to contest from the Mandi parliamentary constituency. Although he did not secure a win, he expressed gratitude to the more than 450,000 voters who supported him. Singh stated that victories and defeats are two sides of the same coin in elections, and despite the loss, he is committed to fulfilling the vision he presented to the people of the constituency in his capacity as Public Works Minister.
Highlighting his connection to Shimla Rural, Singh declared it his karmabhoomi (place of duty). He noted that as the Minister of Public Works and Urban Development, he bears a significant responsibility for the holistic development of the state. He proudly stated that Shimla Rural is no longer backward but has developed to match Shimla city. However, he expressed disappointment over the party’s poor performance in the Lok Sabha elections in Shimla Rural and called for introspection to understand the reasons behind it.
Singh urged for thoughtful decisions and actions to avoid past mistakes and announced plans for reorganizing and activating booth committees in the area. He committed to personally attending meetings in each zone and called on everyone to prepare in full coordination for the upcoming municipal and panchayati raj institution elections.
Singh emphasized the rapid development of Shimla Rural, noting advancements in drinking water, road facilities, health, and education. He assured that any remaining shortcomings would be addressed promptly.
During the meeting, block officials shared their views on the low voting turnout for the Congress party in several booths during the Lok Sabha elections and pledged to make every effort to prevent a recurrence in the future.
The meeting saw participation from former MLA Sohan Lal, Block Congress Committee President Gopal Sharma, former President Chandrashekhar Sharma, along with Pradeep Sharma, Pradeep Verma, Nirmala Thakur, Karm Chand, Saroj Sharma, Bhupendra Sharma, Prakash Kamal, Reena Kumari, Santosh Sharma, Rajesh Sharma, Sanjay Sharma, Jagdish, Bhupendra Sharma, Dharmendra Verma, Kusum, Satya Verma, Jaspal Thakur, Usha Thakur, Shimla Rural Municipal Corporation councilors, various panchayat presidents and vice presidents, members of the Youth Congress, Mahila Congress, Seva Dal, and numerous other party officials and workers.
