Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, while presiding over the State Executive meeting of Youth Congress at Rajiv Bhawan, Shimla today, said that there was no other party in India, other than the congress, whose two Prime Ministers have made the supreme sacrifice for the unity and integrity of the Nation. Since independence, the congress had an ideology to unite the Nation and respect all the religions alike and strengthen the roots of democracy.
Sh. Sukhu said that after independence, first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru envisioned self-reliant and modern India, while former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was famous for bringing IT revolution in the country, as a result, that today 30 big IT companies of the world are headed by CEO’s of Indian origin. It was an era which shaped the destiny of India’s digital technology and paved way for digital technology. Rajiv Gandhi ensured 33 percent reservation to women in Panchayati Raj institutions by making 73rd amendment Act. On the similar lines, Dr. Manmohan Singh brought in 50 percent reservation to women in ULBs and PRIs. It was the farsightedness of Rajiv Gandhi to channelize the energy of youth in strengthening the democracy and gave them the right to choose their own government at 18 years of age.
Sh. Sukhu said that with a motive of Vyavstha Parivartan the state government was working hard to make Himachal self reliant and most prosperous state of the country. He also detailed the welfare schemes launched by the state government during its one year tenure.
The women workers of Youth Congress who got third position in ‘Super Shakti She’ were also honoured by the Chief Minister. He also released various posters under the door-to-door campaign of Youth Congress.
National In-charge of Himachal Pradesh Youth Congress, Krishna Allavaru, applauded the policy programmes of the state government and said that the government and party was working in unison and every worker here got due respect. The state government in Himachal has done better in the last one year as evident from the decisions taken for the welfare of the people. Lashing at the central government, he said that the Union government has adopted the modus-operandi to misusing institutions like ED, CBI and Income Tax to politically crush its rivals, toppling Governments and win elections. Alleging rigging in the Chandigarh Mayor elections, he said that in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the power hungry BJP will surely use tactics to grasp the power. BJP is expert in speaking lies and spreading propaganda. The public will decide their fate in upcoming Lok Sabha elections and there is no need to be afraid of bully politics of BJP. Ten years ago BJP had promised 20 crore jobs but Modi government has failed in providing employment to the youth. It also failed in providing justice to daughters and improving the condition of farmers besides providing good education, protecting rights of the labourers. He exhorted the party workers that the coming 100 days were very important and every worker should gear up to save the spirit of democracy.
Youth Congress state president Nigam Bhandari praised the Chief Minister for his exemplary leadership during the disaster.
State Vice President of Youth Congress Jaivardhan Khurana detailed the working of Youth Congress. He said that under the Youth Jodo program, Youth Congress has launched a campaign to connect five workers at each booth in Himachal Pradesh. Apart from this, skits are being organized on demerits of Agniveer Yojana in Kangra, Mandi and Hamirpur parliamentary constituencies.
