National De-worming Day: 153,544 Children to Receive Albendazole Dosage – Deputy Commissioner

Una, November 15 – On the occasion of National De-worming Day, on November 29, a dose of Albendazole will be administered to 153,544 children in the Una district. These children, aged 1 to 19 years, include 69,946 students from government schools, 48,725 students from private schools, 5,138 dropouts, and 26,542 children from Anganwadi centers. Apart from this, the goal is to provide vitamin A supplements to 28,328 children and Albendazole doses to 7,080 children. This information was shared by Deputy Commissioner Una, Raghav Sharma, during a meeting organized on this matter.
He informed that, in addition to this, a special campaign will be conducted in the district from November 20 to December 4, 2023, to control diarrhea. Under this campaign, ASHA workers will distribute ORS packets to 35,408 children aged 0 to 5 years through door-to-door visits. The campaign aims to target children from both school and Anganwadi centers. Additionally, children in schools and Anganwadi centers will be provided with practical information on proper handwashing techniques to prevent diseases related to hygiene.
The Deputy Commissioner Una instructed officials from various departments during the meeting to ensure the successful implementation of these campaigns and programs by providing training to employees at the right time and ensuring the availability of materials used. The meeting also briefly discussed Aadhaar identification letters and the Swachh Bharat Mission.
The meeting was attended by Chief Medical Officer Una, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Verma, District Health Officer Dr. Sukhdeep Singh Sidhu, Deputy Director of Elementary Education Devendra Singh Chandel, District Panchayat Officer Shravan Kashyap, District Program Officer (ICDS) Narendra Kumar, along with medical officers from various health blocks.
