Chandigarh-Manali National Highway Closed for 5 Hours for Road Maintenance

Kullu, September 21: The Chandigarh-Manali National Highway will be completely closed for vehicular traffic from Mandi to Kullu and Kullu to Mandi for a duration of 5 hours due to road maintenance work.
Providing information, Additional Superintendent of Police Sagar Chandra explained that a section of the National Highway near Pandoh beyond Kanchi Mode has been severely damaged. As a result, all types of vehicles are being diverted from this national highway onto an alternative link road due to the increased traffic pressure on this link road.
During the nighttime, heavy machinery will be deployed to cut steep curves and easily remove larger vehicles. This will make it impossible for any vehicles to pass through the area. Small vehicles will be sent through an alternative route, while larger vehicles will remain on the side of the national highway. Drivers are urged to cooperate with these measures.
It should be noted that a portion of the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway near Kanchi Mode was completely damaged due to heavy rainfall on August 14. As a result, all vehicles have been diverted from this national highway to an alternative link road. Vehicles are passing through this route at intervals of one to two hours. In recent days, even Volvo buses have been sent through this route due to the congested condition of the road. Steep curves on the road make it difficult for Volvo buses to navigate, so these curves will be cut soon.
