A strong protest has erupted in the city of Paonta Sahib, known as the city of the Guru, over the depiction of drug addicts in the Ramleela (a reenactment of the life of Lord Rama). The Hindu Jagran Manch (Hindu Awakening Forum) has expressed strong objections to this portrayal, emphasizing that they will not tolerate any film songs or obscenity during the Ramleela.

On Tuesday, the Hindu Jagran Manch submitted a memorandum to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Paonta Sahib, demanding immediate action and a notice be issued to the Ramleela committees of Paonta Sahib, Badripur, Rajban, Majra, and Salwala in this regard. The memorandum was presented by a delegation led by the district president Vinay Sharma. During this submission, nearly two dozen activists, including the Municipal Council President Sanjeev Kumar, were also present.

The memorandum states that the Hindu Jagran Manch is committed to eradicating social ills and that no tolerance will be shown for inappropriate behavior along with religious practices. The Manch has observed that Hindu deities are portrayed incorrectly through curtains during the Ramleela, and there is a display of obscenity. The delegation has urged the administration to take immediate steps in this direction.
