Mandi to Kullu Volvo Bus Service Set to Resume on Chandigarh-Manali NH

Mandi, September 9, 2023 – Volvo bus services are set to resume soon on the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway (NH) between Mandi and Kullu. After being suspended for two months on this route, a successful trial run of Volvo buses was conducted on Saturday. The trial was specifically carried out on the alternative route constructed near the Pandoh Dam, as this was the area where there were the most concerns regarding the operation of these buses.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mandi, Sagar Chandra, mentioned that the trial run was entirely successful. Separate orders from the administration will be issued to operate the buses. The Volvo buses will only run during the day, from 5 AM to 7 PM. They will not be allowed to operate during the night. Initially, only a few buses will be allowed to run, as traffic is currently being regulated near the Pandoh area.
The resumption of Volvo bus services comes after a halt lasting since July 9. Heavy rains in the Kullu district on July 9 and 10 led to severe landslides, making it impossible to operate the Volvo buses on this route. Subsequently, the condition of the highway deteriorated to an extent where it was impossible for the buses to operate. However, with the recent improvement in weather conditions and the gradual return to normalcy, the Volvo bus services are set to resume after a two-month hiatus.
