Sukhashray to Provide Higher Education to 15 Underprivileged Children

Dharamshala, September 4: Sukhashray Provides Wings of Pride to Needy Children – Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has bestowed the status of ‘Children of the State’ upon the underprivileged. The government is now ensuring proper care for the underprivileged as parents. In this initiative, underprivileged children are being presented with a bright future. In Kangra district, 1224 underprivileged children residing in various orphanages and child care institutions and other places will benefit. The Sukhashray program is bringing joy to the faces of underprivileged children as it begins.
In Kangra district, the Sukhashray scheme includes the Garli Girls’ Ashram, Titli Children’s Home, Ramanand Gopal Rotary Hostel Salayana, and Home for Locomotor Disabled Children. Under the Sukhashray program, the government is providing assistance for the proper care of children in these institutions. Additionally, 81 underprivileged children are currently living in these care institutions. Apart from this, in Kangra district, under the Sukhashray scheme, the government will act as a parent for 1143 underprivileged children.
Sukhashray to Provide Higher Education to 15 Underprivileged Children
Following the commencement of the Sukhashray scheme under the government led by Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, paths to higher education have been opened for 15 underprivileged children in Kangra district. Furthermore, four underprivileged children have been admitted to vocational training. Similarly, the process of approval is underway for home construction for two underprivileged children and a marriage grant for one.
The Government Becomes Guardians of Underprivileged Children
Now, in Himachal Pradesh, the government will assume the role of the parent for underprivileged children up to 27 years of age. Whether orphaned children wish to pursue higher education, including MBBS or IIT, the government will bear the entire cost of tuition and hostel. Additionally, they will receive a monthly pocket money of 4000 rupees. Underprivileged children will also get to travel by air once a year for educational trips. The government will cover the full expenses of their travel and stay in any state in India. They will be accommodated in three-star hotels. Additionally, 10,000 will be provided for their clothing. Financial assistance for self-employment will also be provided. Moreover, land will be made available by the government for building homes for those above the age of 27.
First Time a Government Has Taken Responsibility for Underprivileged Children
Leela Thakur, director of Home for Locomotor Disabled Children, expressed her satisfaction with the initiation of the Sukhashray scheme by the government. She mentioned that she has been running institutions for underprivileged children for years, but for the first time, any government has done commendable work for underprivileged children.
Ideal Village Sukhashray Premises to Be Established in Luthan
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Nipun Jindal stated that the implementation of government-run schemes and programs for underprivileged children is being ensured. He mentioned that land has been selected for the establishment of an ideal village Sukhashray premises in Luthan.”
