Narrow Escape ; Rocks Collapse on Pickup Truck Carrying Vegetables

Mandi, August 7: A pickup truck carrying vegetables from Kullu to Amritsar had a close call on the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway (NH) when large rocks suddenly tumbled down from the mountains. Fortunately, the driver managed to react swiftly and jump out of the vehicle, saving his life. The incident could have resulted in a major disaster if he hadn’t acted in time.
According to the available information, on Monday evening around 5 o’clock, a pickup truck with registration number HP21B-2383 was transporting vegetables from Kullu to Amritsar. As the vehicle approached a spot about 9 miles away, a massive rock dislodged from the mountains and fell onto the pickup, causing significant damage to the vehicle. Thankfully, the driver, Rakesh Kumar, remained uninjured during the incident.
Sakini Kapoor, the in-charge of the Sadar police station, confirmed the incident and assured that there were no casualties or damage to any lives or property. However, the pickup truck sustained considerable damage. Due to this, the highway was briefly obstructed, but it was quickly cleared to restore traffic flow.
Kapoor advised all motorists using this route to exercise caution while driving and to be mindful of the possibility of such incidents.
