Kisan Bhawan Dhalli hit by massive landslide, all rooms evacuated

Shimla, Aug 2 – Due to heavy monsoon rains, a landslide came down on Kisan Bhawan on the outskirts of Shimla, near the Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) Dhalli on Wednesday.
Reports arriving here said that a massive landslide hit Kisan Bhawan around 1145 hours this morning, which partly damaged a few vehicles and damaged five rooms of the four-story building by the stone and landslide debris that entered the rooms. No loss of life occurred.
Fortunately, the landslide happened during the day, when all rooms were empty. During the apple season, Police personnel reside in the building.
The stones reached inside three rooms of the Kisan Bhawan. Two vehicles were also damaged due to this. Now Kisan Bhawan has been vacated.
Cracks developed in the hills, and there is more danger of landslides here again. It is noteworthy that APMC has set up Kisan Bhavan in Shimla’s Dhalli for the convenience of farmers.
The Met Office has issued a high alert for vigorous rainfall in many places of the state in the next 24 hours as it was mainly cloudy, but due to extremely high humidity, sweltering heatwave conditions are also developing in the low line areas of the state.
