UGC directs institutes to return fees if admission is canceled

Shimla, July 21: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed Higher Educational Institutes to comply with the fee refund policy for the academic session 2023-24. The commission said that they have been receiving several complaints from students as well as parents regarding non-refund of fees by HEI after cancellation or withdrawal of admission.

The UGC said that any higher educational institution found violating the policy would face “punitive action”. The commission requested the institutes to allow full fee refund within a specific period for choosing the course opted by them. The institutes have also been asked to redress any grievances of the candidates who have withdrawn admission in the academic session 2023-24.
