Shri Ram idol fell due to tempest in Sujanpur village

Hamirpur, Feb 22 – A huge (40 feet) high idol of Maryada Purushottam Lord Ram installed in the Ayodhya Dham in Bagehra Panchayat of Sujanpur sub division of Hamirpur fell on ground due to sharp winds and storm last evening.

Fortunately, the incident took place at a time when none was present there. Otherwise some untoward incident could have happened. As soon as the information was received, BDO, Panchayat Pradhan, Up-Pradhan and other Panchayat representatives reached the spot and took notice of the incident.

SDM Sujanpur Dr. Harish Gajju acknowledged the incident and said that there was no loss of life or property due to heavy storm and rain in Ram Dham of village panchayat Bagheda. The idol has been kept covered respectfully and BDO Sujanpur has been directed to submit a detailed report regarding the incedent.

On the other hand, BDO Sujanpur Nishant Sharma said that immediate action was taken as soon as the information about the fall of the idol was received. It is being verified. He said that the sculptor who installed this idol has assured to replace it with a new idol free of cost with a strong structure.

The reason for the fall of the idol is said to be strong winds due to bad weather. The idol was about 40 feet high. It was the biggest idol of Shri Ram installed in any part of the state.

Ayodhya Dham has been constructed to promote religious tourism in Bagehra Panchayat of Sujanpur development block. Here the picture of Lord Rama is described. A lake has been constructed where there is also the facility of boating for the people.

Hundreds of people reach Ayodhya Dham daily and for them this area has become a symbol of religious faith. People used to take photos under the statue here as a memory of the spot.
