Renuka becomes first cricketer from HP to make it to ICC’s ODI, T20 team
1 min readHamirpur, Jan 26 – Himachal Pradesh cricketer Renuka Singh Thakur has added another feather to her cap by being included in the ICC’s ODI and T20 team of the year 2022.
Renuka is the first cricketer from Himachal, who has been included in the ODI and T20 team released by the ICC. A list of names of 11-11 women players has been released by the ICC. It includes five women players from India.
Himachal’s Renuka is also in the team. Apart from this, the ICC T20 women’s team includes three players from Australia, one each from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, England and New Zealand.
India’s four players are Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh and Renuka Singh Thakur.
While the names of Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana and Renuka Singh are included in the ODI team.
In the year 2022, Renuka remained in the headlines, she played a total of seven T20 matches against Australia and took eight wickets. Renuka had better performance in Commonwealth Games and Asia Cup. She took 17 wickets in 11 matches at an economy rate of just 5.21. At the same time, Renuka’s name was also included in the nominations for the ICC Women’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year award.
HPCA Secretary Avneesh Parmar said that it is a matter of pride for women players from the state to get a place in the ICC teams. He said that other women cricketers will also get inspiration from Renuka.
