35 Civil Engineering HPU Students Visited JUIT

Solan, Dec 29 : A delegation of 35 Students and two faculties from Civil Engineering Department, Himachal Pradesh University visited Civil Engineering Department Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat. Students visited various labs such as Highway Engineering Lab, Geotechnical Engineering Lab, Concrete Lab, etc. Students were given detail information and demonstration of tests performed in these labs. Dr. Amardeep discussed various tests performed in highway engineering lab such as Marshal Stability tests, bitumen tests, etc. In Geotechnical Engineering Lab Dr. Niraj Singh Parihar described various tests done on different soils such as direct shear test, triaxial shear test, swell tests, etc. Doubts of the Students were also answered. As per Dr. Ashish Kumar, Head of the department, JUIT main objective of the visit was to strengthen the tie up between JUIT and HPU and encourage similar interaction in future. Dr. Tanmay Gupta gave live demonstration of test performed on shake table to simulate the earthquake effect on structures. Entire visit of students was coordinated by Dr. Saurav.
