Shimla, Oct 11 – Himachal Pradesh Industries and Transport Minister Bikram Singh on Tuesday flagged off a Volvo bus service from ISBT Tutikandi in Shimla to Dharamshala and to Manali.
He told the media that 22 new Volvo buses were being procured by the Himachal Road Transport Corp, out of which seven have reached Shimla.
New Volvo buses have been included in Dharamshala and Kullu depots too.
He said the state government was making efforts to provide Volvo bus service not only in the state but also in other states. Efforts were also on to connect Volvo service with the airport.
He said that in view of the upcoming festivals, additional bus services would be run from Delhi, Chandigarh and Baddi.
He said that 50 electric buses have been procured to keep Shimla city pollution free.
The Minister said the Shimla to Dharamshala bus will leave Shimla at 11.30 am and will take eight hours via Bilaspur, Hamirpur and Kangra to reach Dharamshala at 7.30 pm. The bus leaving Dharamshala every day at 12 noon reach Shimla at 8 pm via Kangra, Hamirpur and Bilaspur.
He said the Shimla to Manali Volvo bus will leave Shimla at 8.30 pm and will take nine hours via Bilaspur, Mandi and Kullu to reach Manali at 5.30 am. It will leave Manali at 9 pm and will reach Shimla at 6 am.
