Yoga Day celebrated at UHF Nauni

Solan, June 21 – The 8th International Day of Yoga was celebrated at the Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni at its campus on Tuesday morning. Shri Sriniwas Murthi, Founder of Yog Bharti Himachal Pradesh was the master trainer on the occasion. University Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajeshwar Singh Chandel welcomed Sriniwas Murthi and all the trainers. Addressing a packed hall, Professor Rajeshwar Singh Chandel expressed his happiness on seeing enthusiasm for yoga among people from all walks of life. He urged the staff and students to make yoga a part of their day to day life and not restrict it to a particular day. Professor Chandel added that the university will look to organize regular yoga camps for the staff and students.

Prof Chandel was joined by the university students, staff and faculty in the Yoga exercises. Sriniwas Murthi and Dr Anupama Chandel, Assistant Professor, Yoga at Shoolini University conducted the programmes where the correct way of doing various yoga asanas was shown to the participants.

Speaking at the event, Sriniwas Murthi was of the view that Yoga is a science and a way of life, which can be incorporated in every aspect of life. He urged all the participants to incorporate yoga in order to lead a healthy and stress-free life. In the over one hour-long programme, the participants were apprised about the various yoga asanas and its correct techniques. The benefits of these asanas were also shared with the participants who took active participation in the activity.

Earlier, Dr Anju Dhiman, Dean College of Horticulture of the university, talked about the history of yoga and the International Yoga Day. Dr KK Raina, HOD Department of Business Management thanked Shri Sriniwas Murthi and Dr Anupama and her team for sharing his views and knowledge about yoga with the university.
