‘Recent Trends in Human Rights’ Discussed At HPU Law Department

A lecture was organized under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava’, in the Department of Laws, H.P. University, Summer-Hill, Shimla-5 on the topic Recent Trends in Human Rights’ on 31st December 2021. Prof. N.K. Gupta was the speaker.
In the beginning, Prof. Shiv Kumar Dogra welcomed the speaker. Dean & Chairman, Prof. Raghuvinder Singh presented Shawl and Cap to the speaker. Prof. N.K. Gupta at the beginning of his lecture told the meaning of human rights starting from history to the present day; he covered how human rights have evolved. He said that it is the most controversial issue. He told that India signed various conventions on human rights in 1979.
He said that 20th century was the real-time for the evolution of human rights. Even Indian Constitution also reflects human rights. What he said about recent trends in human rights is that when we talk about the unorganized sector, social security becomes a question. He stressed the role of police as it is very important for the administration of the criminal justice system. He gave stress on police reforms and said that police reforms are the need of time. At the end of the event, Prof. Umesh Kumar proposed a vote of thanks. The committee which organized the event consisted of Prof. Shiv Kumar Dogra and Dr. Vandana Thakur. The event was attended by all the faculty members and students of the Department of Laws.
