Political Turmoil in Himachal as Vikramaditya Singh’s Bio Change Sparks Speculation

2 min read

Shimla, March 2: The political landscape in Himachal Pradesh is heating up with the exit of rebel leaders, and now, discussions around Vikramaditya Singh have intensified. Singh had announced his resignation on the morning of February 28, only to retract it in the evening. Questions arise about whether he remains dissatisfied with the current scenario. Amid talks with rebel leaders in Panchkula, Vikramaditya Singh made a significant alteration to his Facebook and Instagram profiles, removing “INC, PWD Minister, and MLA” from his bio and replacing it with “Sevak of Himachal.”

This move by Vikramaditya Singh has escalated tensions in political circles. Speculations suggest ongoing displeasure between Pratibha Singh and Vikramaditya Singh. Following the meeting with rebel leaders in Panchkula, Vikramaditya Singh headed directly to Delhi. Analysts are debating the significance of this step, questioning whether it’s a pressure tactic or a signal of his discontent with Sukhhu’s leadership and the cancellation of the expulsion of rebel leaders. Pratibha Singh has voiced her disagreement with the hurried revocation of the expulsions.

It is argued that Vikramaditya Singh may not leave the Congress entirely but is using this as a pressure tactic to negotiate with the party’s high command. There is speculation that Vikramaditya Singh, with a promising political career in Congress, would not jeopardize his position by severing ties. In politics, nothing is deemed impossible.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Observer Dav have asserted that the dissidence among MLAs has been resolved. The government is stable, enjoying a complete majority, and will continue for its full term. All MLAs have been heard, and their concerns have been addressed.

Amid these discussions, Jayaram Thakur has been called to Delhi, indicating that Operation Lotus is on the agenda. With the recent victory in the Rajya Sabha elections, BJP’s confidence is soaring. The political turmoil in the “Sukhu government” has increased difficulties. Whether Sukhu and Aalakman will manage to quell the crisis remains to be seen.

Simultaneously, Pratibha Singh has been consistently displaying dissatisfaction. She has, at times, made statements against her government. During media interactions on Friday, Pratibha Singh hinted that the BJP’s preparations are far superior to Congress. She also expressed disagreement with the cancellation of the expulsion of rebel MLAs. Pratibha Singh’s criticism of her government has caused a stir in political circles.
