Helping Hands to be Honoured with ₹25,000 under Rahveer Scheme

Shimla, July 17: In a significant step towards promoting road safety and civic responsibility, Deputy Commissioner Shimla, Anupam Kashyap, announced that citizens who assist road accident victims by taking them to the hospital within the “Golden Hour” will be rewarded ₹25,000 under the Central Government’s Rahveer Yojana. These Good Samaritans will be specially identified and felicitated.
Chairing a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee, the DC instructed the police to identify such individuals who recently helped accident victims. He also appealed to all committee members and departments to inform the administration of such cases to increase awareness and encourage timely intervention in emergencies.
District-Level Road Safety Workshop on July 28
A district-level workshop on road safety will be held on July 28 at Bachat Bhawan, with participation from all stakeholders. Sub-divisional workshops will follow. The DC directed the removal of road encroachments and asked the Municipal Corporation to identify accident-prone zones for proper signage and traffic measures. He also emphasized listing and removing dead trees near roads for public safety.
RTO Anil Sharma shared updates on eye check-ups, blood donation camps, vehicle overloading checks, and awareness drives in educational and driving institutions. The DC suggested deploying mobile vans for pollution testing during vehicle passings to address the lack of testing centers in Shimla.
