Farmers income may rise due to cluster farming

Shimla, Jan 31 – Agriculture Minister, Chander Kumar stated that cluster system in the farm sector may increase the income of farmers by providing them with latest crop-specific technical knowledgeable.

Agriculture Minister was presiding over a meeting of senior officers of the Agriculture Department here today. He directed the officers to prepare a land use plan according to the assessment of soil testing reports. He said that integrated Agriculture Development agency of Department would ensure promotion of cluster farming beside emphasising on crop diversification.
Minister said that to enhance the income of farmers, the focus would be on high nutritional farm products.The Department officers would be imparted modern technical know-how. Reviewing the progress of JICA project the Minister stressed for providing better irrigational facilities to the farmers. He directed the officers to prepare the proposal under the project that would ensure sustainable livelihood to the farmers. The farmers would be provided with better marketing linkage facilities with a view to enhance their income.
