Delhi Govt Asked to Share Details on Black Fungus Drug Stock

Delhi, May 20 – Today Delhi High Court has asked the Delhi government to respond to the issue of shortage of medicine used for treating black fungus, which is affecting people recovering from COVID-19.

A division bench comprising Justices Vipin Sanghi and Jasmeet Singh told counsel for Delhi government, senior Advocate Rahul Mehra to apprise the Court about the details of stock held by the government.

The issue of shortage of medicine Amphotericin B, for treating Mucormycosis (black fungus) was raised by counsel Rakesh Malhotra who also referred to a recent order passed by the Delhi government concerning requisitioning of the drug for the ailment.

The bench asked the Aam Aadmi Party-led government that how there can a sudden shortage in supply of Amphotericin B drug when the drug is being manufactured locally.

The Court also asked the Centre to state the “bottlenecks” being faced by it in supplying the drug to states.
