Young Innovators Converge: 31st HPCSC Sparks Scientific Curiosity and Creativity

Shimla, Dec 12 : In an endeavor to foster scientific temperament among young minds, the Himachal Pradesh Council for Science, Technology & Environment (HIMCOSTE) is conducting the 31st Himachal Pradesh Children’s Science Congress (HPCSC) from 14th to 17th December 2023. HIMCOSTE, dedicated to science popularization programs since its establishment in 1986, boasts a substantial outreach with 26,097 child scientists representing approximately 4,000 schools across the state participating in this year’s Children’s Science Congress Programme.
The 31st HPCSC has successfully concluded at the district level, with 800 participants, including students, teachers, and resource persons, converging from various regions of the state. The state-level congress is hosted at the esteemed National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Hamirpur from 14th to 17th December 2023.
The choice of NIT Hamirpur as the venue aims to expose the participants to state-of-the-art facilities, fostering an environment conducive to scientific exploration and innovation. The event provides child scientists and teachers with a unique opportunity to engage with NIT Hamirpur’s faculty and students, offering insights into advanced lab facilities and technological innovations.
During the congress, a diverse range of activities is scheduled for students in grades 6th to 12th. These include Scientific Project Report presentations, Science Activity Corner, Mathematical Olympiad, Science Quiz, and competitions for Innovative Science Models and Science Skits. These initiatives are designed to encourage hands-on learning, critical thinking, and creativity among the young participants.
The collaborative platform created by the HPCSC not only facilitates knowledge exchange but also nurtures a scientific spirit that will significantly benefit the participating students and teachers. The event underscores the commitment of HIMCOSTE to nurturing scientific curiosity and innovation among the youth, thereby contributing to the overall scientific development of the region.
