World Population Day 2023 observed by Department of Community & Family Medicine, AIIMS Bilaspur
1 min readBilaspur, July 19 – Department of Community & Family Medicine, AIIMS Bilaspur (H.P.) observed World Population Day 2023 on 11th and 12th July 2023 under the guidance of Executive Director Prof (Dr.) V.S. Negi. An outreach session was conducted at Anganwadi Centre, Nai Sarli with support from Smt. Namrata, Community Health Officer, Health & Wellness Center Kothipura, Sh. Narinder, Child Development Project Officer, Bilaspur Sadar and Smt. Asha Kumari, Anganwadi worker.
Dr. Anupam Parashar, Professor & Head elaborated on the background of the event. She informed that World Population Day is celebrated every year on 11th July to raise awareness of global population issues. This year the theme for World Population Day is “Unleashing the power of gender equality: Uplifting the voices of women and girls to unlock our world’s infinite possibilities.”
MBBS students in the third year performed Nukkad Natak to raise awareness in the community on the issues related to the growing population and gender equality. Paramedical students in the first year created awareness in the community with the help of posters. A debate among MBBS students was also organized on the theme for World Population Day 2023.
Dr Navpreet and Dr. Anupama Dhiman from AIIMS, and Smt. Suraj Lakshmi, Sh. Parveen Thakur and Sh. Vivek Bhatia, Supervisors from Bilaspur Sadar were also present on the occasion. Fifty participants including ASHAs, women in reproductive age groups and men attended the event.
