World Nature Conservation Day celebrated
1 min readThe Department of Tree Improvement and Genetic Resources at Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry marked World Nature Conservation Day with a vibrant celebration on campus. This year’s theme, ‘Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature’, guided the celebrations, which were held in partnership with the National Service Scheme (NSS).
Undergraduate and postgraduate students from the College of Forestry enthusiastically engaged in a variety of activities throughout the day, including a declamation contest and poster-making competition.
Dr. CL Thakur, Dean of the College of Forestry, was the Chief Guest, while Dr. HP Sankhyan, University Librarian, participated as the Guest of Honour. In his address, Dr. Thakur encouraged students, particularly those studying Forestry, to explore innovative ideas that promote both forest conservation and sustainability. He urged them to get involved in widespread conservation initiatives and gave away the prizes to the competition winners. Dr. Anita Kumari, Dr. Shikha Thakur and Dr. Lalit Thakur, faculty members of the department were actively involved in the organization as well as execution of the event.
