Workshop on Skill Embedded Courses for Employable Education
2 min readA one day workshop on Skill Embedded Courses for Employable Education was held at Hotel Holiday Home Shimla on 07.10.2021 by H.P. Private Educational Institutions, Shimla in association with Chitkara University Himachal Pradesh.
The special invitees of the workshop were the delegates from Logistics Sector Skill Council, Media Entertainment Skill Council & Tourism and Hospitality Skill Councils under Govt. of India Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. The workshop was attended by the Chancellor / Vice Chancellors of 16 State Private Universities of Himachal Pradesh. Maj Gen. Atul Kaushik, Chairman, H.P. Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission and Sh. V.L.V.S.S. Subba Roa, IES (Retd.) Senior Economic Adviser, MHRD, GoI, Dr Sashi Kant Sharma, Sh M.R. Bhardwaj from Regulatory Commission. Maj Gen. Atul Kaushik, Chairman, H.P. Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission and Sh. V.L.V.S.S. Subba Roa, IES (Retd.) Senior Economic Adviser, MHRD, GoI, emphasized the need of skill based courses for the students of Himachal Pradesh making them industry ready with the requisite skills industry needs. The delegates from Logistics Sector Skill Council made detailed presentation on the present scenario of employment requirement and type of service sectors in the logistic domain which requires skilled manpower. It was also mentioned by the delegates from this skill sector that in logistic sector about 50 lakhs job requirements will be generated by the year 2025. The skill based courses, its duration and modalities were also discussed in detail during this workshop. The challenges to run such skill embedded programmes were also discussed in detail. During the workshop, the J & K Policy Group Institute also interacted with the participants through Video Conference and shared their views on Research and Fellowship, underexplored area of study and action like Sustainable Tourism, Disaster Management & Climate Change etc. across Trans-Himalayan region. The possibilities were explored for practical training for J & K students in Private Universities based in Himachal Pradesh. The dignitaries of Skill Councils who attended the workshop were Capt. Ramanujam, CEO Logistics Skill Council, Mr. Rajan Bahadur, CEO, Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council, Mr. Mohit Soni, Chief Executive Officer Media & Entertainment Skill Council, Dr. Sunita Badhwar, Head Standard Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council and Prof. S. Ganesan, Head, Education Initiatives Skill Council among others. The chairperson HPEIRC while highlighting the importance of the workshop stated that this is a unique conference wherein the sector skill interacted with the Vice Chancellors of 16 State Private Universities on one platform. He also stated the importance of Interaction with Army Training Command for establishing Cooperation between Army & Private universities for Higher learning.
In addition to this, Col. Abhishek from Army Training Academia Institute (ARTRAC) also presented details about Higher Education requirements for Indian Army Officers and suggested tie-ups with HPEIRC and Private Universities across Himachal.
