Women Play Leading Role in Nation Building: DC Anupam Kashyap

Shimla, March 8: International Women’s Day was celebrated at Gaiety Theatre, Shimla, by the Department of Women and Child Development with Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap attending as the chief guest. The event began with the traditional lighting of the lamp.

Addressing the gathering, Kashyap said women today are excelling in every field and playing a crucial role in the development of society and the nation. He emphasized that education is key to making women self-reliant and highlighted how women are achieving success in administration, judiciary, sports and other professions.

Several speakers, including Child Welfare Committee Chairperson Santosh Sharma and Principal of Fine Arts College Dr. Kamayani Bisht, also stressed the importance of gender equality, education and empowerment of women.

During the programme, meritorious students, national and state-level women sportspersons, Anganwadi workers and various self-help groups were honored for their achievements and contributions. The Deputy Commissioner also participated in a signature campaign organized during the event.
