Women & Child Development Dept inks MoU with Skill Development Corporation for skilling wards

Shimla, Oct 9 – Inmates of Bal Ashrams located in different parts of the state will become self-supporting as the Department of Women and Child Development Department has inked an MoU with Skill Development Corporation for the skill improvement of children.
A spokesman of the Women and Child Development Department told that their skills will be refined so that after leaving the ashram, the children can earn their own employment.
He said the department has signed MoU with Skill Development Corporation. In which the corporation will provide vocational training to the children studying in the Bal Ashram. Work on this will be started soon.
At present, there are 43 Bal Ashrams in the state, in which about 1,300 children in the age group of 6 to 18 years are living. On one hand, the department will give IT training to these children.On the other hand, they will also be provided with second vocational training. They will be given training in computer and digital studies in the IT sector. So that these children coming out of the ashram can fulfill their increasing demand in the market and they can get employment.
The department will start hobby classes for young children residing in the ashrams. The Project Approval Board of the Central Government has given its approval to the department. The board will issue a budget to the department for starting hobby classes. The department will start the same hobby classes for the children in the subject that interests the young children so that they can also be entertained and they can make their career from that hobby.
Director of the department Rupali Thakur said the department has started a new initiative to enhance the skills of the children living in Bal Ashrams under which the skills of young children can be developed.
She said in this age, where digital and IT training will be given to older children along with enhancing the skills of the juniors
