Kullu, November 08, 2024: A woman teacher in Kullu district, Himachal Pradesh, has been suspended for repeatedly arriving late at her school, disrupting the education of children. The teacher, identified as Heera Wati, was reportedly arriving at the school around 12 PM for the past three years. Following complaints, an investigation was conducted, and the education department took immediate action.

The incident took place at Choparsa Primary School in Lagghati. It was highlighted by News18 that the teacher’s tardiness was affecting students’ learning. Heera Wati has now been suspended and transferred to the Nagar education block. An inquiry against her has also been initiated by the education department.

The Director of Primary Education in Kullu, Surendra Kumar Sharma, confirmed that a complaint was filed by the School Management Committee (SMC) on November 5. After investigation, it was found that the teacher’s habitual late arrivals were detrimental to the students, with no one available to teach during the late hours.

The teacher, who has been posted at the school for five years, failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for her tardiness when questioned. Given the circumstances, where only two teachers were present in the school, her behavior was deemed unacceptable.
