Una, August 10: A woman from Uttar Pradesh has accused the police of assaulting her at a women’s police station. The woman alleges that she had gone to the station to file a complaint but was subjected to physical violence by the police. On the other hand, the police officers claim that the woman attempted to physically assault them at the station, leading to the filing of a case against her.

According to available information, the woman, who hails from Uttar Pradesh, has been residing with her family in the village of Kotla Kala in the district headquarters for some time. She claims that the house owner asked her to vacate the premises without any prior notice. In the meantime, a few days ago, the landlord entered her room and began making inappropriate demands. He stated that she could stay in the room only if she complied with his demands.

The migrant woman alleges that when she refused, the landlord physically assaulted her, using abusive language. Moreover, she lodged a false complaint against her husband at the Una Women’s Police Station. On Wednesday, the woman reached the women’s police station to report her complaint. However, the woman police officers and other personnel at the station ignored her complaint. When she began explaining her situation, the police personnel allegedly turned hostile and accused her of fabricating her claims.

The assault left the woman injured. She managed to escape somehow and reached the local sub-divisional magistrate’s office. The woman has appealed for justice from higher police authorities.

Regarding this incident, DSP Haroli Mohan Rawat has informed that the woman had filed a complaint against the house owner. She was called to the station for the same. However, upon arriving, the woman became agitated and got entangled with the police personnel.

The DSP explained that initially, the woman had raised her hand against the police officers, which has prompted police action against her. He said that as soon as they received information about the incident, the police personnel reached the Mini Secretariat, from where the woman was taken to a regional hospital for medical treatment. DSP Mohan Rawat mentioned that the police will investigate the matter thoroughly.
