Widow Seeks Justice, Government Plays Politics – Shameful Governance under Sukhu: Bikram

Senior BJP leader and MLA Bikram Thakur has launched a scathing attack on the Congress-led Himachal Pradesh government, alleging moral and administrative collapse under Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. Thakur said the people of the state are losing faith in vital institutions, especially the police and the Chief Minister’s Office.

Referring to the mysterious death of Chief Engineer Vimal Negi, Thakur pointed out that for the first time, the Himachal Pradesh High Court had to direct the police not to file a chargesheet without its permission and to monitor the investigation directly. He termed this as a reflection of alleged interference in the probe, raising serious concerns over transparency and justice.

Thakur condemned the fact that two senior police officers—SP Shimla and the DGP—appeared to present conflicting positions in court. He called it a damning indicator of administrative disarray and political factionalism within the Congress party, which, he claimed, has seeped into every level of governance.

Highlighting the plight of the late officer’s widow, Thakur accused the government of using its agencies to suppress her voice and seek political gain from tragedy. He called it not only a moral failure but a crime against democracy and humanity.

He also recalled his earlier warnings about illegal forest felling and noted that soon after, serious allegations surfaced against a Congress MLA from Mandi—showcasing the rot of corruption and political protection.

Thakur emphasized that this crisis is the result of “a wrong choice for Chief Minister,” and now the entire state is suffering. He urged the public to maintain faith in India’s democratic institutions and thanked the Himachal High Court for stepping in to uphold justice.
