Wheat storage limit of wholesalers and retailers amended

A spokesperson of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs informed here today that Government of India has amended the wheat storage limit from existing 2000 MT per wholesaler to 1000 MT and for retailers and big chain retailers to 5 MT from existing 10 MT from 8th December, 2023. Besides, the above categories have also been directed to clear the additional stock by 8th January, 2024 and follow the instructions strictly.

All the district controllers and Inspectors have been asked to frequently inspect the stocks. He said that strict action would be taken against the violators as per the provisions of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.
