Webinar organised at SILB on detection of virus
1 min readSolan, June 6 – A webinar titled ‘Viruses: Their Detection through Serological and Molecular Techniques’ was organised by Department of Microbiology, SILB, Solan, in which Dr. Anil Handa, Professor, Department of Plant Pathology, Dr. Y S Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan was the guest speaker.
The webinar began with the welcome address by the Head of Department Dr Sushila Negi, who introduced the attendees with the eminent scientist and his contributions to the field of plant virology. Dr. Handa started by giving an overview about viruses, their applications and impact on human life. The students were enlightened with the knowledge about status, scope, economic feasibility, and technical know-hows of advanced methods used in plant and clinical virology.
During the interactive session with the students, Dt Handa told about ecological significance of viruses, important aspects related to their transmission across different kingdoms of living organisms and suggested that we should learn to live with the viruses. At the end, the president, Mrs Saroj Khosla and the Director, Dr. Shalini Sharma concluded the session with a vote of thanks and encouraged the students to bravely overcome the challenges during Covid19 pandemic using the knowledge gained during the webinar.
