Webinar on Film Appreciation organised at Shoolini Univ

Solan, May 20 –  Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Shoolini University organised a webinar on Film Appreciation on Thursday.
The key speaker of the session was Himachal’s independent film maker and writer Dr. Dev Kanya Thakur, who is also the founder member of the International Film Festival of Shimla.
Her documentary films, Behind the Barge (first) and No Women’s Land have been awarded in Special Mention category. Her film Mohra received Sahitya Akademi, Himachal Pradesh award for the story of the film. Dr. Dev kanya is also a well-known writer and her poem “Pahad ki Aaurat” has been awarded Ladli Media Award. Along with this, Dr. Dev Kanya Thakur has also recited poetry on various national forums.

While interacting with the media students Dr. Dev Kanya shared how the story is introduced in the films using symbolism. She also discussed Satyajit Ray’s films ‘Two’, ‘Lal Hota Darkhat’, ‘Countdown’. Dr. Kanya further stated that films and cinema are the mirror of the society we should use it carefully because it has a great impact on the society.

In the question answer session she said that while making the film, we should keep in mind that whether we can watch this content with my family without being nervous or shy.

The session was also attended by Chancellor Prof P K Khosla and President of the Foundation for Life Sciences and Business Management Mrs Saroj Khosla.

The session was moderated by Ms. Indu Negi, Head, Radio Shoolini, at Shoolini university and said that films are very impactful source of entertainment and has the power to influence society at large.

The webinar ended with the concluding remarks by the Director of Journalism and Mass Communication Department Prof. Vipin Pubby, who said that films and cinema are the two major medium of mass communication which has the power to change society. The next generation students should learn about the content delivery.
