Shimla, July 30: Due to continuous rainfall in Himachal Pradesh, water was released Wednesday morning from Kol Dam on the Sutlej River in Bilaspur and Pandoh Dam on the Beas River in Mandi district. The move has raised concerns over rising water levels in downstream areas.
Kol Dam officials warned that Sutlej River’s level could rise by 4–5 meters, prompting alerts especially in Punjab’s low-lying regions. Similarly, water from Pandoh Dam will flow through Mandi, Sujanpur, Nadaun, and Dehra, eventually reaching Pong Dam and then Talwara in Punjab.
Authorities have urged people and livestock to stay away from riverbanks and avoid any activities near the rivers in the next several hours.
