The District Electoral Officer mentioned that if any voter is unable to present a voter identity card for any reason, they can cast their vote by presenting any one of the 12 other specified photo identity documents designated by the Election Commission of India. These 12 alternative photo ID documents include Aadhaar card, MGNREGA job card, bank or post office passbook with photo, health insurance smart card issued by the Labour Ministry, driving license, PAN card, smart card issued by NPR under the UIDAI, Indian passport, photo identity document issued for pension, photo identity card issued to employees of central or state governments and public limited companies, and the government identity card issued to MPs and MLAs. Any of these documents can be shown to cast the vote.
The District Electoral Officer mentioned that minor errors in writing or spelling in the voter identity card can be overlooked, but if identification of the voter is not possible due to a faulty photo, then the voter will have to present one of the 12 alternative photo ID documents specified by the Election Commission of India for identification.
The District Electoral Officer urged the voters of the district to carry either their voter identity card or any one of the 12 specified alternative photo ID documents designated by the Election Commission of India when they go to cast their votes.
