Shimla, June 28 – PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh met with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, in New Delhi to discuss crucial road projects ahead of the monsoon season. Singh announced the approval of Rs. 50 crore under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) for the Khamadi-Tikkar road in Shimla.

Singh expressed gratitude to Gadkari for the sanction and urged the release of an additional Rs. 150 crore for repairing PWD roads connecting National Highways, emphasizing the importance of these repairs before the monsoon.

He also requested Rs. 30 crore for the maintenance of the Kamand-Kataula and Chail Chowk-Pandoh roads, which serve as vital alternate routes to ease traffic congestion, especially when National Highways are damaged.

Singh reminded Gadkari about the proposal to upgrade the Shimla-Mataur NH to a four-lane highway, as previously discussed by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. He urged the NHAI to ensure uniform upgrades.

Singh also highlighted the need to include several important projects in the Annual Plan 2024-25, which were omitted in the Draft Annual Plan, and requested the speedy approval of a Rs. 70 crore refurbishment estimate for a section of NH-5, crucial for the upcoming Mani Mahesh Yatra.

Gadkari assured Singh of all possible support for the state’s infrastructure needs.
