Vikramaditya Singh Promises Transformation and Appeals for Support in Mandi Constituency

Mandi, May 21, 2024: Vikramaditya Singh, Congress candidate and Minister of Public Works, expressed confidence in the formation of an India Alliance government in the upcoming elections. He appealed for significant voter support for Congress while addressing several communities in the Mandi parliamentary constituency.

During his campaign trail, Singh visited the Namdhari Sikh Gurudwara and interacted with residents in Sai Galu, Majhwar, Suhda Mohalla, Purani Mandi, and Nichla Khaliar. He emphasized that politics is a means of public service, not a profession, and highlighted his commitment to addressing people’s issues by staying closely involved with the community. Singh also reflected on his efforts during natural disasters, showcasing his dedication to assisting affected individuals promptly.

Singh articulated his vision for the Mandi constituency, aiming to transform it into the nation’s leading parliamentary area. He pledged to develop Mandi into a smart city akin to Shimla, acknowledging the substantial contributions of his late father, Virbhadra Singh, a six-time Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. He credited his father for elevating Mandi’s status by establishing various government headquarters and institutions like IIT and a medical college. Singh also praised his mother, Pratibha Singh, for continuing the development efforts during her tenure as a Member of Parliament.

As Minister of Public Works, Singh has secured ₹3560 crores from the central government for the maintenance and construction of roads in the state. He stressed the importance of enhancing the road network within the constituency to facilitate the influx of tourists. Singh announced plans for tunnel constructions at Jalori Pass and Bhugu Pass to improve connectivity.

Reflecting on the contributions of former leaders, Singh paid homage to his father, Virbhadra Singh, and former Chief Minister Pandit Sukh Ram, acknowledging their lasting impact on Mandi’s development. He criticized former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur for failing to contribute significantly to Mandi during his tenure. Singh accused the BJP candidate of relying solely on Prime Minister Modi’s name for votes, lacking any personal vision or development agenda.

 Tribute to Rajiv Gandhi and Pandit Sukh Ram

On the occasion of the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Vikramaditya Singh paid floral tributes to the Bharat Ratna awardee, honoring his sacrifice for the unity and integrity of the nation. Singh reiterated that Rajiv Gandhi’s legacy of dedication and sacrifice would never be forgotten by the country.

Singh also paid respects to former Union Minister Pandit Sukh Ram in Kotli, recognizing his significant contributions to the development of Himachal Pradesh. Singh appealed for collective support from the community, emphasizing the importance of blessings from elders and a renewed commitment to progress.

Vikramaditya Singh’s campaign focuses on a vision of holistic development, inspired by past leaders’ contributions and driven by a commitment to serving the people of Mandi with integrity and dedication.
