Vikramaditya Singh Attends 29th State-Level Shooting Competition Closing Ceremony
2 min readShimla, June 17 – Vikramaditya Singh, Minister of Public Works and Urban Development of the state, attended the state-level shooting competition near Kufri in Chiyog as the chief guest. On this occasion, he participated in rifle trap shooting, successfully hitting the target with five rounds.
In his address, Vikramaditya highlighted the importance of sports in our lives, especially for the mental and physical development of children. He mentioned that the state government is making efforts to promote shooting sports. He congratulated the officials of the National Shooting Association and the State Shooting Association for successfully organizing the five-day shooting competition. He also congratulated the male and female participants from Himachal, Punjab, and Haryana who excelled in the 10-meter, 25-meter, 50-meter, and air rifle trap shooting competitions. Vikramaditya expressed hope that, with collective efforts, children from Himachal will also excel in shooting sports and bring glory to the state.
He announced that the construction of an international-level multipurpose stadium in Kutashni is underway and will be completed within one to two years. This stadium will also include a shooting range, where all future shooting competitions will be held.
Talking about development, he mentioned that road repair, metalling, and upgrading work is ongoing throughout the state, with the government spending 2800 crore rupees. He informed that the halted construction work on the Fagu to Chiyog-Dharech bypass would resume soon, and 27 crore rupees have been sanctioned for the construction from Dharech to Sainj. The contractor has been awarded the work, and construction will commence shortly.
On this occasion, Olympic participant and gold medalist, Khel Ratna, and Arjuna Awardee DSP Vijay Kumar, along with national shooter Ananya Thakur from Theog, were specially present. The chief guest honored the participants who achieved top positions in various categories by giving them mementos.
A cultural program was also presented by school children, for which the chief guest announced a prize of 15 thousand rupees.
The event was attended by SDM Theog Mukesh Verma, Shimla Rural Block Congress President Gopal Sharma, National Shooting Association Secretary Ishwar Rohal, Zilla Parishad member Rajesh Kanwar, BDC members Balwinder and Naresh Kumar, Chiyog Gram Panchayat Pradhan Dinesh Jagta, Himachal Pradesh Shooting Association Senior Vice President Surat Singh Thakur, Vice Presidents Rajesh Parmar, Gurbachan Rana, Vijay Thakur, Vikrant Thakur, Suraj Singh Thakur, local deity representative Bajir Lok Ram Bhandari, executive members Baldev Thakur, coaches, Panchayat representatives from nearby Panchayats, members of women’s groups, and a large number of local residents.
