Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan Assumes Charge as 47th Vice Chief of Indian Navy

Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan, AVSM, NM, took over as the 47th Vice Chief of the Naval Staff (VCNS) of the Indian Navy on August 1. In a solemn ceremony, he paid tribute at the National War Memorial, honoring the bravehearts who laid down their lives in service to the nation.
A proud son of Heeranagar, Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh), Vice Admiral Vatsayan’s distinguished career spans over three decades. He has commanded several frontline warships including INS Vibhuti, INS Nashak, and INS Sahyadri, and served as the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet.
He has held numerous strategic and policy-level roles, including Director of Naval Plans, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Policy & Plans), Deputy Commandant of NDA, and Chief of Staff, Eastern Naval Command. He was awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) in 2021 for his exemplary leadership.
As VCNS, he is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the future vision and operational readiness of the Indian Navy.
