Chamba, March 3, 2025 – The Regional Transport Officer (RTO), Chamba, has urged vehicle owners to clear their pending Passenger & Goods Tax by March 31, 2025. This deadline applies to owners of goods vehicles, taxis, maxi cabs, and contract carriage buses with outstanding tax dues before January 1, 2022.

The Himachal Pradesh government has extended the deadline under a special policy, offering a 10% penalty waiver for payments made before March 31, 2025. However, after this date, defaulters will face a 100% penalty, along with additional road tax collection.

The RTO also clarified that before January 1, 2022, the Excise & Taxation Department collected this tax, but it is now under the Transport Department. Vehicle owners who already cleared their dues before 2022 must obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the department and submit it to the respective vehicle registration authority or Regional Transport Office.
