Vande Mataram: Nation’s Living Soul — Anurag Singh Thakur

Shimla, November 7, 2025: Former Union Minister and MP from Hamirpur, Anurag Singh Thakur, addressed a gathering in Shimla to mark the commencement of the 150th anniversary celebrations of the national song Vande Mataram. He joined citizens in the collective singing of the song and reflected on its historical significance and emotional connect with the nation.

Thakur said that Vande Mataram played an unparalleled role in inspiring countless freedom fighters during India’s struggle for independence. He emphasized that the song remains the spirit of a united, strong and self-reliant India. He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the mantra of Vande Mataram continues to inspire India’s march towards a developed and Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Calling Vande Mataram a timeless emotion, he highlighted that the release of a commemorative coin and postal stamp by the Prime Minister in honour of the 150-year milestone reflects the nation’s gratitude towards the freedom movement and its heroes.

Thakur appealed to citizens across the country to participate in the nationwide singing of Vande Mataram being held from November 7 to Constitution Day on November 26, as a tribute to the nation and its cultural legacy.
