Training programme on Statistical Analysis organised at Nauni

A two-week training programme on Soft Skills for Statistical Analysis was organized by the Department of Basic Sciences, Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni. The programme was organized under the NAHEP Institutional Development Project for the students of the College of Forestry and Horticulture on the main campus.

Speaking at the valedictory function, Vice Chancellor Prof Rajeshwar Singh Chandel lauded the initiative as statistics is being used in every field and will help the students to apply statistical techniques to real-world problems. He added that different industries are dependent on data and this type of training will give students an edge in handling data. He asked the programme organisers to hold a similar training for the university colleges in Neri and Thunag and also hold a refresher course for the faculty. He also gave away certificates to the students.

Earlier, Dr. RK Gupta welcomed the participants and informed them about different topics covered during the program. Dr. Ashu Chandel informed that the main purpose of the programme was to develop the skills required for work in MS Excel and give a clear understanding of key statistical terminology. It aimed to equip students with practical data analysis skills in Excel, including calculating descriptive statistics and creating charts and graphs to visualize data. Dr. KK Raina, PI IDP and Head Department of Business Management was the Course Director while Dr. Ashu Chandel and Dr. Yashmin Janjhua were the programme coordinators. Dr. RK Gupta, Dr. Anju Sharma and Dr. Deepak Agnihotri were the course coordinators. Sixty-one students attended the training.
