1 min read

The Children’s Theatre Festival 2024 is set to showcase an exhilarating display of talent, as 15 school teams prepare to compete for the title of best Hindi drama performance. Rehearsals took place on September 13 and 15 at Gothic Hall, Gaiety Theatre, under the mentorship of renowned theatre experts Amala Rai and Jawahar Kaul. With the support of creative directors Neeraj Prashar, Sanjeev Arora, and Sohan Kapoor, students received invaluable guidance during these intense practice sessions.

Senior artists focused on refining several critical aspects that will shape the final performances. They emphasized the importance of originality and depth in storytelling, alongside clarity in dialogue delivery, expressive body language, and dynamic emotions. Amala Rai and Jawahar Kaul also provided detailed feedback on script interpretation, dialogue timing, and actor positioning.

The rehearsals also placed a strong emphasis on student-led creativity, particularly in the use of props and set design. The importance of sound and music to convey mood, time, and action was another key point of discussion, as was ensuring that makeup and costumes effectively aligned with each character to enhance the narrative.

Over the course of two days, all 15 plays were reviewed, with essential feedback provided to elevate each performance. This competition promises to be a celebration of youthful imagination, where students will bring their unique interpretations of Hindi drama to life.
