Union minister speaks in webinar on drug abuse

A Webinar to generate awareness on Alcoholic Addiction and Drug Abuse in association with “Nasha Mukt Samaj Abhiyan Andolan Kaushal Ka” was organised by Shoolini University on Wednesday.
Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Kaushal Kishore, participated in the online session and emphasised on the need to eradicate the menace of drug addiction. He said a section of youth in the country was being pushed into drugs and liquor addiction.
Sharing his personal story, the minister said he lost his own son to liquor addiction and has launched a campaign to spread awareness among the youth. He said a section of youth were getting adversely influenced by western culture.
He said 18 lakh youth have pledged not to consume drugs or alcohol. He also administered an oath to those attending the webinar.
Earlier, Chancellor Prof P K Khosla welcomed the minister. He said the university has a zero-tolerance policy for drug abuse and peddling. The event was coordinated by Dean Students Welfare, Mrs Poonam Nanda with the help of NSS volunteers.
