Police initiated a homicide investigation
Shimla, December 18: The Chhota Shimla Police, under the jurisdiction of the Kanlog area, has registered a case of homicide following the discovery of a corpse in a state of disarray at the Kanlog Cemetery. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting the police to invoke Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) to investigate the case as a homicide.
The victim’s identity remains unknown, with initial investigations indicating that the individual, approximately 35 years old, sustained injuries to the head, neck, and other parts of the body. DSP Amit Thakur led the local police in examining the crime scene, while forensic teams conducted a thorough inspection. The examination revealed signs that suggest the victim may have been subjected to fatal assault rather than an accidental fall, contrary to the initial belief.
The incident occurred in the Shivpuri area of Kanlog Cemetery. DSP Pratap Singh reported the incident to the police after he discovered the body while providing a water supply to the cemetery on Sunday morning. Upon receiving the information, the police, along with the FSL team, collected fingerprints and sought the assistance of the dog squad. No suicide note was found at the scene.
Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Gandhi confirmed that a case under Section 302 of the IPC has been registered, and efforts are underway to ascertain the identity of the deceased. The police are working diligently to conduct a thorough investigation and bring those responsible for the apparent homicide to justice.
