Una, March 6. A healthy society is the hallmark of any progressive state. With this vision in mind, the Himachal government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, is continuously taking concrete steps to modernize, accessibly, and effectively provide healthcare services. Several innovative initiatives have been undertaken in the state to expand medical infrastructure, provide state-of-the-art facilities, and ensure access to healthcare in remote areas. The positive impact of these efforts is clearly visible in Una district, where people are receiving better treatment facilities through an extensive health network ranging from regional hospitals to sub-health centers.
Una Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sanjeev Verma says that currently one regional hospital, five civil hospitals, ten community health centers, three Employees State Insurance dispensaries, 24 primary health centers and 138 sub-health centers are providing health services to the people in the district.
Dr. Verma said that under the guidance of Chief Minister Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and the efforts of Health Minister Dr. (Colonel) Dhaniram Shandil, priority is being given to modernization and expansion of medical infrastructure so that accessible and quality health services can be made available to every citizen.
He explains that in addition to the regional hospital in Una district, five civil hospitals are operating in Amb, Chintpurni, Haroli, Gagret, and Bangana. Furthermore, ten community health centers are functioning in Dulahad, Kugrat, Bhadasali, Bitan, Dhusara, Basdehra, Santoshgarh, Daulatpur Chowk, Thanakalan, and Panjawar. In addition, 24 primary health centers and 138 sub-health centers provide primary health services in the rural areas of the district. Furthermore, there are three Employees State Insurance dispensaries in Tahliwal, Gagret, and Mehatpur.
He added that construction of the PGI Satellite Center in the district is also progressing rapidly. Currently, the Regional Hospital, Una, offers outpatient services through the PGI Satellite Center, which is staffed by specialist doctors from PGI Chandigarh. This allows patients to receive expert consultation locally, reducing the need for them to travel outside for treatment.
The Chief Medical Officer stated that the state government is also paying special attention to improving cleanliness and quality in healthcare institutions. Under this initiative, efforts are being made to improve cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control in hospitals through the Kayakalp scheme. Work is also underway to develop various healthcare institutions in accordance with national quality assurance standards, ensuring safe and quality healthcare services for patients.
Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal stated that, as directed by Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, continuous efforts are underway to strengthen and modernize health services in Una district. Effective steps have been taken to strengthen the infrastructure of health institutions in the district, expand medical facilities, and ensure access to health services in remote areas.
Additionally, special attention is being paid to maintaining cleanliness, improving quality, and ensuring services in accordance with national standards in health institutions. As a result of these efforts, the district’s health infrastructure is steadily strengthening. Our endeavor is to ensure that people have access to better and quality health facilities near their homes.
