UHF Nauni Hosts Three-Day Inter-College Youth Festival

The three-day Inter-College Youth Festival commenced today at Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni, bringing together 307 students from its four constituent colleges—College of Horticulture (COH) and College of Forestry (COF) from the main campus, and the Colleges of Horticulture and Forestry at Neri and Thunag. The annual event aims to foster holistic growth among students by encouraging active participation in cultural, literary, fine arts, and sports activities.
University Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel inaugurated the festival as the Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted the university’s commitment to providing a well-rounded educational environment that nurtures both academic excellence and extracurricular development. Prof. Chandel emphasized that events like the Youth Festival play a significant role in shaping students’ personalities, enhancing life skills, and helping them discover and strengthen their talents. He added that such platforms also promote cultural exchange while strengthening appreciation for one’s own heritage.
Earlier, Registrar Sidharth Acharya welcomed the Chief Guest and participants, encouraging students to showcase their abilities with enthusiasm and uphold the true spirit of sportsmanship. The festival opened with an impressive march past by contingents from all four colleges, followed by the administration of the sportsmanship oath.
Dr. H.P. Sankhyan, Dean of Students’ Welfare, shared details of the events lined up for the festival. The opening day featured a range of fine arts competitions, including spot painting, collage-making, poster design, and rangoli. In the literary segment, students participated in elocution, debate, and extempore contests.
The upcoming days will witness an array of theatre performances, including one-act plays, skits, mime, and mono acting, along with music competitions such as light vocal, patriotic songs, and Indian group songs. The festival will conclude with a vibrant Group Folk Dance competition. The overall champion college will be decided on the basis of cumulative points earned across all events.
