Shimla, Oct 25 : Two prominent Congress party leaders of Una and Kangra districts on Tuesday joined BJP giving a big jolt to the Congress party. Those who joined the BJP are Major Vijay Singh Mankotia (Shahpur) and Rakesh Kalia (Gagret).
Mankotia, a powerful leader of Kangra district, joined the BJP at Vijaypur at the residence of All India BJP chief, JP Nadda. He joined in presence of Harsh Mahajan, another former Congress party minister who had joined the BJP recently in New Delhi.
On other hand, Rakesh Kalia, former MLA and All India secretary of the Congress party, joined the BJP at Gagret in presence of Avinash Khanna, the party in charge of the BJP affairs of Himachal Pradesh. Kalia took this decision as he was denied the party ticket by the Congress party from the Gagret seat.
With this joining of these two leaders in the BJP, the Congress party has suffered a major setback in Kangra and Una districts.
Suresh Kashyap, the HP BJP chief, said that with the joining of these two leaders, it has been proved that people were with the BJP and had no love and faith in the Congress party.
In a statement, he claimed that the party was going to win the 2022 Vidhan sabha elections in the state with ease.
