Training on developing Entrepreneurial Capabilities and Capacity

A three-day training programme on Developing Entrepreneurial Capabilities and Capacity Building was organized by the Department of Business Management, Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni.

Dr. Piyush Mehta, coordinator of the programme informed that the training was funded by ICAR to inculcate entrepreneurial skills and inclination among the farmers. Thirty farmers who have adopted natural farming from districts Shimla, Hamirpur and Bilaspur participated in the training.

The objective of the training was to develop entrepreneurs, who can add value to the economy and create employment in the areas of agribusiness and rural enterprises. It mainly focused on making the participants aware of agriculture education and the concept of entrepreneurship. The training also aimed to help the participants develop business ideas and to provide inputs to enable them to choose an agribusiness or rural venture and provide basic managerial inputs essential for managing an enterprise.

The training was inaugurated by Dr. Ravinder Sharma, Director of Research who explained the benefits of natural farming and the potential for entrepreneurial opportunities. Dr. KK Raina Professor and Head of the Department of Business Management also reiterated the significance and emerging scope of natural farming in Himachal and the country. The participants were also addressed by Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajeshwar Singh Chandel who encouraged them to start their enterprises in the Agri-horti sector. Professor Chandel assured the participants of all technical guidance from the university. Dr. Divender Gupta, Director of Extension Education chaired the valedictory session and gave away the training certificates to the farmers.
