Training camps for farmers organized by Nauni varsity

Shimla, Mar 14 – The Directorate of Extension Education of Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni organized four training camps for farmers in collaboration with Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam(SJVN). The University has a MOU with SJVN for organizing training camps for farmers from different places in the state. Under this collaboration, the University scientists organized training camps at Jhakri and Bayal in Kullu district. Two camps were also organized at Bithal in Nirmand Block and Sunni in district Shimla. Over 1000 farmers took part in these trainings.

Dr. Divender Gupta, Director of Extension Education told that the university has targeted to reach 2000 farmers through these camps and two more camps in Dhaulasidh and another in Keylong will be organized in the coming days. He informed that the university’s experts comprising Dr. Chaman Lal Thakur, Dr. Kuldeep Thakur, Dr. Vishal Rana, Dr. Manica Tomar, Dr. Reshma Negi and Dr. Pramod Verma addressed the region-specific problems of the farmers during these camps. Topics like plant protection, plant entomology and pathology, vegetables and fruit science, and floriculture were covered and the queries of the participants were addressed through discussions. The scientists also inspected the live samples brought by the farmers and gave their expert advice.
