Rajgarh, October 6: A horrific incident of a fire took place near Rog village in Rajgarh last night. In this heart-wrenching incident, one woman and seven goats were burned alive in a hut.

According to police sources, Devendra, who resides in Rog Shirgali, had built a makeshift hut in the forest for his horses and goats during the summers. The hut had a thatched roof which was secured with tarpaulin. Devendra’s wife Mehandi Devi (33 years old) was bathing and trying to light a fire in the hut’s stove when she accidentally removed the lid of the stove. This caused sparks to fly onto the thatched roof, igniting the grass beneath.

It is being reported that there was also a horse in the hut, which panicked and ran out. However, Mehandi and the goats were caught in the flames. By the time villagers arrived to help, Mehandi had succumbed to her burns. Additionally, seven goats were also burnt to death. As soon as news of the incident reached the authorities, SDM Rajkumar Thakur, Tehsildar Umesh Sharma, and the police reached the spot, but by then, the hut had turned into ashes.

The body of Mehandi was taken into custody by the Rajgarh police. Her body underwent a post-mortem at the civil hospital on Friday and was handed over to her family. Tehsildar Umesh Sharma mentioned that immediate relief of 25,000 rupees was provided to the deceased’s family at the scene.
